Squirrels, Birds, Bunnies & Deer

No, this isn’t a recipe for a new low-carb dish (you can find those on my low carb site, respectively at mylowcarbsite.com), these are the critters that crossed my path while bike riding this afternoon.  The deer was a new one, though I shouldn’t be surprised, considering I was riding out at ‘Deer Grove’.  I’m taking the downward part of the trail off of Quentin street, thinking to myself, why isn’t that tall dog on a leash… until I got closer.  The deer actually let me get within a few feet of it and we stared at each other for a minute, and I realized it actually had friends, some even smaller hanging out with it.  She went back into the woods, and I continued on my ride.

I have really been enjoying cycling.  I am doing ~15 miles a day now, which is great.  Yes, to all you bike enthusiasts out there this may be a short distance, but I don’t care, it takes me over an hour and I really enjoy it.  I don’t bring a music player or anything, and just enjoy the sounds of nature and the wind rushing against my face.  I don’t even carry my cell phone or a watch, just my keys and (2) 16.9 oz bottles of water; the first with a scoop of Whey protein and L-Glutamine, and the 2nd with a scoop of Green SuperFood.  I’m not sure if either really helps me but hey they don’t seem to be doing any harm either.

I need to contribute some of my motivation to my old neighbor friend Ed.  He and his girlfriend came by on their motorcycles last summer, and I noticed that Ed (who used to have a shadow resembling my own) had greatly improved his physique.  When I inquired as to how, he said an hour a day of cardio.  This, coupled with a recent documentary I saw on PBS about the brain, stating that an hour a day of aerobic activity would help to generate new neurons in the brain helped further fuel my desire.  I think the most important reason I cycle is that I enjoy it :) Also, it doesn’t cost me anything, and gets me out of the house and away from the computer to enjoy a little nature time.

On that note, I am going to go jump in the shower, I am exhausted and could use some refreshing!
