Sorry to hear about Rocky. I know from experience how difficult it is to loose a special friend. I lost another cat to cancel about a year ago. It broke my heart to finally have to make the decision to have him put to sleep. I cried every time I saw something that reminded me of him.

But I found this side that lets you put out a memorial on the web. It gave me something to do for Pete. Something that I could point friends to so that they could share my loss. The site is http://www.pets-memories.com/. Petercat's memorial is at http://petercat.pets-memories.com/ Check out the site and consider making one for Rocky.

I still miss Pete. I've moved since his passing and worried that his spirit would not be able to 'find me'. But he has .. he's here with his brothers.

Also look for the story of the Rainbow Bridge! http://www.petloss.com/poems/maingrp/rainbowb.htm

Good luck

Darren:

My vet was very supportive and since they had someone on site 24x7, I was
allowed visitation anytime (within reason). So I made 2 trips a day to go in
and reassure "Scotter" that he was not abandoned! So even though he was
attached to IV's, I was able to hold him.

It helped both of us get through a difficult situation.

Hopefully your vet will allow visits.

Good luck!

Nick

Nick - Thanks for your reply. It helped seeing some reassurance from someone who experienced the pet hospital time. We dropped Rocky off at the vet 1st thing this morning and hoping and praying for a speedy and successful recovery! Darren

Good luck with Rocky! A fiend of mine has a cat that experienced a similar issue. He has the surgery and has been doing great for years.

I also had a cat who had a similar issue that was caught early on. No surgery was needed. The ultimate cure was to replace his dry food with wet food.

I'm sure your vet cautioned you on not letting this go on without treatment as his health can decline rapidly.

Leaving a cat in the 'hospital' for a few days is something that no cat lover wants to do. My oldest cat, Scooter, developed diabetes a few years ago. His week in the hospital was heartbreaking but he and I survived!

Anyway .. good luck!
