Aikido is one of those martial arts that focus on both the use of the body as well as the mind. It doesn’t place and emphasis on physical skills but it also places an emphasis on the spirituality of practitioners and other people who wish to study the art.

By definition only those beverages which are obtained through fermentation of grapes are called wines. Those which are produced from rice or starchy raw materials are called rice wine, sake or barley wine. Those wines which are produced from any other thing are called fruit wines.

Aikido is a name which is created by linking three characters in Japanese. Ai means joining, Ki refers to spirit and do means way. By taking these three terms together you get the essence of the art of aikido. Aikido can then be defined as a form of martial art which joins the spirit in order to find the way. In the 1930’s – 1940’s Aikido was officially accepted as the definition as the true name of this martial art.

Not a great day today for Nietzsche the Iguana. For many years he has had a beautiful long tail, and now he has been shortened by 18″. He has been fighting with Junior all weekend and today I found him with his tail mostly torn off and bleeding. The tail has completely fallen off now, and he is resting on his heat rock. I’m not sure if he hit his tail against the cage, or lost this to a fight with Junior, or caught up climbing. I just hope he doesn’t get some kind of infection. There are other marks and scrapes on his tail. His vet isn’t open until Monday, so I will watch him this closely this weekend and call then Monday morning.

In a single second a winner or loser can come out of a combat situation. A person can always examine the fighting situation in order to know whether they can become a better fighter by learning and correcting their mistakes in future. These things may also happen during a competition and this is why it is recommended that students familiarize themselves with the different Aikido moves every time that they can.
